Help me please....boiler cut out after bleeding

Yes it's definately my loo overflow. The problem is the ball needs to be slightly higher. It has a nut on the arm just before the valve
can you adjust this?

Can't i get a rubber overflow peice from B&Q to slip over the overflow pipe so it's only a few mm higher. This would work I think.

no as that would solve the problem not the cause, you would get the same thing happen in a day or two.

i just looked in our cistern we too have as you do, yes you can adjust the nut, it adjusts the position that the water gets cut off at (i just tried it)

yep adjust the nut...if it's still going replace your float it may have a hole in it. How's that boiler going?

Thanks Breezer, so which way should the nut move more over to? the left or the right? my ball is on the left the rod is on the right

Ball >> rod >> valve

in this direction
Also i had another idea, if i put a piece of card between the valve and rod surely this would stop it?

It's working a treat ollski thatks a lot, i blasted it like you said the heating on full, only hitch is that the bathroom radiator is hot in only 1 corner I don't think it was bleeding properly. Never mind the rest a roasting hot all around so i can't complain, not that i need it in the bathroom anwyay.

Excellent! I get it now, I've just screwed the pusher a bit closer.
Thank you very much you guys for the help! I haven't got a clue about plumbing and you have been a great help for even a novice like me.

Hey, my PC running faster now :!:

sometimes you just get caught in something you can't seem to get out of!

I doubt if adjusting the ball cock will fully solve the problem, it will if the valve cuts off the incoming water at a level lower than the over flow pipe.
I dealt with two cases recently where the plastic valve had a slight crack in them ( hard to see)and the water was not stopped. In fact, as I lifted the ball slightly by hand to see if it stopped the leak was worse.
A replacement from B & Q cost 95p
