The easy way, is to keep the old thermostat in place; moving the brown wire in terminal 1 (with power safely isolated), and placing it in terminal 5, along with the grey wire.

The less easy way, would be to decommission your thermostat and remove (or isolate) the wiring. If you want to go this way, we need to trace where the thermostat cable goes, whether that is behind the programmer, or directly to the wiring centre.
Some photos of that wiring may help us determine how viable this is.

Tried chasing back to wiring centre and programming plate wires with multimeter without any luck
Chased the programming wires back to wiring center ok with multimeter
But no joy with thermostat
So connect live and switched live together
1 & 5
Then blanking plate overm

Yes, that should bridge out the stat - put those together in one terminal block and isolate the black (neutral) wire in another terminal block.

I will have a proper look at the wiring later.
Is there an FCU for the boiler near to the programmer, sometimes cable joints can be hidden behind there?

Looking at the wiring center, it appears to be the grey connected to the brown of the motorised valve. Just depends on where the brown live from 2 channel is in the wiring center, but probably best linking the 2 wires and blank plate over?

Yeah the grey with brown sleeving comes from programmer/timer up to wiring center block no.6 to 2 port valve heating
Just can't find room stat wires in wiring centre done continuity test with a very long cable from thermostat to upstairs wiring center and from room stat to programmer it's done me where the wiring is, I'm still learning though
Might just block 1 and 5 from old thermostat and single out the black no. 2 and blank plate it, seems easiest way
Receiver 2 channel and my backplate programmer below straight swap it looks

You don’t need hot water off, as you don’t have a Y-plan system.

No sorry that was just a photo of the 2 channel receiver i didnt do the red circle looks like i can use the black back plate, if not i put the white hgive one in
Cheers for help
i get a back plate and choc block for old thermostat cheers again pal

If you are still interested in looking, did you test for continuity with the thermostat removed from the backplate?

The wire from the programmer wouldn't usually connect directly to the brown of the heating zone valve - the stat would be in series with this; if it wasn't, then the thermostat wouldn't be doing anything anyway!
It would be usual for the brown from terminal 4 of the programmer to go to L (1) on the stat. Then the grey wire from N/O (5) on the stat would go to the zone valve brown.
The stat also needs a neutral connection through the black wire. I can't see a black wire connected to a blue at either the programmer, or wiring centre. I think I can see a black wire behind the programmer, but don't see where it goes - hence the question about a nearby FCU.

Well, those are my thoughts! :)

Ah thats why wouldnt show on continuity test i would have to bridge 1 and 5 on stat then test wiring center makes sense now

Black goes into the blue in wiring center, but didnt show on continuity test either
