Honda Izy stalling full throttle

Hi all,

First post here - sorry for yet another thread like this but I'm a bit stumped!

I've got a Honda Izy with the GCV135 engine. It starts easily and runs on choke, and idles ok, but bogs down and stalls on full throttle. I can't get it to run wide open for more than a couple of seconds.

I've taken the carb off and cleaned it as thoroughly as possible (with carb cleaner, don't have a compressor). I seem to be getting good flow through the passageways when I spray them and the needle is seated properly. I've replaced the air filter and spark plug, and changed the oil. I drained the tank and put some fresh petrol in. Still no luck! Any ideas gratefully received.

Did you remove the main jet, and emulsion tube directly above it for a clean?
It’s here that most of the problems lie and they won’t clear without being removed.
The items I mention are dead centre of the carb body, with the float chamber removed. At the same time, there should be a good flow of petrol coming out when the white float drops - that’s easy enough to check with the carb still on the engine.

Thanks John. I'd missed the emulsion tube - will take that out and clean carb again tomorrow!

Good luck with it!
With the carb off the engine and inverted - float bowl off - the main jet unscrews and the emulsion tube is directly above it.
Sometimes it doesn't want to shift but a sharp rap on a board or whatever usually jars it loose. Observe which way it comes out!
Have fun putting the carb back on the engine....this is where your third hand comes in well handy!
