hot water heating all the time on my potterton suprima

hi,
a few days ago my suprima 40 potterton boiler just stopped working and when i checked had locked out. I let it cool and tried to switch it back on but it wouldnt work unless i put on both the water heating timing switch to on and the central heating switch to on.Now even when i have the central heating switched off the hot water is heating and its costing me a fortune! Ive turned the thermostat on the hot water tank to 0 but its still red hot water coming out! Its only 2 1/2 years old and has always been very noisy and whistley could it be the thermostat is gone?
