apparently the market is a wash with vast quantities of fillet, t-bone and rump steaks. These being the big buy from restaurants etc, story goes we don't regularly buy these cuts for home.? result is huge amounts just going to waste. We can get most things, bread, milk, lots of meat, veg, but find eggs and flour non existent.
Some things were reduced just like before, my wife used to get loads of meat which had been reduced as it was near sell by date, just bunged it in the freezer.I thought we would have seen an end to that with panic buying, but no, still stuff going to waste.apparently the market is a wash with vast quantities of fillet, t-bone and rump steaks. Flour? You'll be lucky, I don't get the obsession with flour, I can't believe more than about 10% of the population even know how to make bread and bread's pretty much never been unavailable during this mash up. Or are they just stock piling it in some kind of instinctive homage to their ancient past I wonder? Or maybe baking cakes?the 'substitute' might be eggs, milk and flour!
We make our own pizza a fair bit, and bake frequently. And once we sussed the way to get yorkshires just right they beat aunt bessies hands down.Flour? Sure but don't most people who cook have half a bag of flour or whatever for bits and bobs in the cupboard, I know we do, it's a staple for the things you mention for sure but I just don't get the current obsession. We make our own pizza a fair bit, and bake frequently. But you're right, I couldn't be bothered with making bread!
Most of the smaller shops around here including tescos express, sainsburys local etc seem to be almost back to normal.Sure but don't most people who cook have half a bag of flour or whatever for bits and bobs in the cupboard, I know we do, it's a staple for the things you mention for sure but I just don't get the current obsession.
