How do I use this connector block?

A silly question I know but I want to replace the terminal block in my garage so I bought one of these - it’s where the 2.5mm cable enters the garage and connects to another 2.5mm cable. I thought it would be the same setup - a connector block inside a plastic case. No screws though, just seems to be a spring loaded connector. Push the lever down, insert the wires from either end then just let go. Is that it? Does it just grip by spring tension alone?

Yep that is it.

If the wires are solid core it’s usually enough to push.

I've had a few of both these types in service at home for several years and they have been fine.
