how much does it cost for a plumber to come out and look at my heating ? I am in clacton Essex

yes, and now the boiler wont start. i replaced it exactly how i took it out, i know it works because it switches when i turn the heating and water on and off.

your valve is opening, your pump is running just boiler not firing up

yes, that`s about the size of it.... If the stat on the hot water tank was not working, would that make a difference.

if you are calling for heating and hw the boiler will still start.
it's calling for heat and hw cause your valve has opened and the pump is running.

what boiler is it ?

it`s a BAXI SOLO 2 PF. The boiler light is on, but none of the others are. I was working fine yesterday apart form keeping over heating.

The hot water tank is not storing hot water, the boiler has fired up now, dunno what i did though...

have you tried resetting boiler turn to 0 then back on ?

is the pipe to the cylinder from valve hot
and pipe out of the bottom of cylinder hot / cold

The pipe at the top and middle are cold. The pipe at the bottom is a T junction and is red hot although the actual pipe going INTO the bottom of the tank is cold. And all that rattling does sound like there is air in there somewhere.

the valve has 3 ports
1 from pump
2 to cylinder
3 to heating

whats hot / cold.

Ohh, the valve...all 3 are roasting... I was talking about the hot water tank not getting any water. It used to until i turned the heating on, then it all went pear shaped from there on.

right so the water leaving the valve is hot and going to the cylinder.

the water on the other side leaving the valve is hot going to the heating.

so now it should be heating your cylinder and rads.
