I went to Spain this week and despite what the anti-Brexit scaremongers on here said……

edited as you were typing.

I was also in Spain this week. Barcelona airport has a dedicated UK passport channel. It also has ridiculously high crime (2 of our group had their laptops stolen and 1 lost a mobile). Oddly the police need a warrant from a judge to go to a premises that is clearly jailbraking phones to retrieve a phone stolen only minutes earlier (tracked using wheresmyphone).

So the exchange rate and passport checks are true.

And there is NOW a limit on the amount of time/visits you can make.

The brexiteers seem to be overjoyed that things haven't got much worse, rather than having any benefits

Blimey, it don’t half upset some on here when I go abroad to Europe and don’t have any grief or extra expense. Miserable ****s. :ROFLMAO:

The purpose of my visit was to transition jobs held by Spanish citizens back to the UK. When we were EU members it was easy to have people based in Spain and leverage the tax breaks that Catalonia was offering. Now we miss the flexibility and convenience of having people in the UK.

In the UK I can take a risk when hiring someone as I have 2 years to decide if they are any good. In Spain I have to compensate them for the loss of their job and go to court to get a judge to approve the termination, even if I offer the employee a good deal. I don't run a large business, but so far 2 jobs from Ireland to UK, 3 jobs from Spain to Uk, total ban on hiring in Belgium and Luxembourg - we run that business from the UK and Netherlands.

We bill in USD, so everyone gets paid more and its cheaper to higher the best people in the UK.

I've just been to France.
Had great time. Hope you did too.

But it is definitely harder and slower to enter and return than it was before

I think there is a good chance the EU will soften the Schengen rules for brits in coming years. Several countries are lobbying due to the loss of UK tourists and business.

I used to do some occasional work (on a request basis) throughout central Europe.

I don't do any now.

Try taking a van of tools and parts abroad now. Even spares and basic tools for a potential breakdown and repair on my own vehicle is a major task to take and get through the checks and paperwork.
None was needed before

Is that another benefit? Or realisation of things worsening?

Well they've softened their stance on international driving permits and green card requirements and the EHIC problem that Ellal was trumpeting has been replaced with a GHIC so it appears they can learn to soften their stance when market forces demand.

Do citizens of other countries that trade with the EU have an automatic right to live in the the EU without a visa?

I think Norway do and Switzerland, but am not sure.

The next big upset is the mini visa thing that they're rolling out soon for all non EU nations. That's going to make holidays and work much more awkward for anyone with a minor conviction.

Market forces always find a way to make things work. Whether that is taking advantage of tax breaks or getting round trade boundaries introduced or found.

Few businesses will last with that approach. I was surprised by the brexit vote, but it’s been overall positive opportunity wise. Disruption tends to drive innovation and vice a versa

What planet are you on?
