But I've always thought a 'Discussion Board' was just that.
Somewhere to discuss various topics where you could agree/disagree with another persons point of view but at all times respect that they are entitled to their own opinion, regardless of how ridiculous it may be. Its called debating

Therefore in my opinion anyone who disparages our armed forces should go and live in another country where they have no services. You can't live in freedom by posting a sign on the beach saying,
'Please do not attack this country as we have no one to defend us.'
It doesn't/won't work!
Therefore you need an armed service to protect you and so you should not slag them off as the lowest of the low or call them a bunch of idiots/dregs of society etc. You should respect and admire them for the often difficult job that they do.

Most young lads at present join the forces not because they want to protect us from some foreign power or because someone is killing there population but bcause there is fek all else out there for them.
Forces at present can pick and choose because so many just want a wage , 10 years back they would take anyone because hardly any where applying.
I have sat in on interviews and took several young lads over and there niavety is amazing.
Yes there is always some who want to and have always set there heart on it but in todays forces that is a low percentage.
But that doesnt mean that those who join dont go on to become excellent service personell

in my time i have never met anyone who joined up just to kill.
when you volunteer you become the instrument of your government who, again, are the people's elected representatives.
if you, as one of the electorate, disagree with government policy, don't blame the army or its' soldiers for that. they simply go out to do their unglamorous job which, as in any conflict situation, involves innocent people being harmed. just as in our own country during the blitz of the 1940s
