Ideal Boiler Prob

Taking into account all the helpful comments and reading the Ideal t & c's re a fixed price repair we are going for a new boiler.

I would appreciate any comments re a suitable replacement unit which I understand has to be an Ideal boiler for it to be compatible with the extended Ideal flue through our conservatory roof I had installed a year ago.

Obviously I can search online and take recommendations from a gas fitter but any useful guidance from you guys would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I should have mentioned, that the boiler will serve only two of us in our two bed house and we only have five rads.

you cant use the same flue with your replacement boiler, you need a new flue also.

When the conservatory was built, I consulted Ideal Boilers and they assured me by email the flue needed would fit a new Ideal replacement boiler should one be needed at any time. So I bought the parts needed (as advised by them) and I "eventually" managed to get a gas safe guy to fit it in sync with the conservatory builder and sign it of etc.

A good replacement boiler with capacity enough as above would be.............?

Look on fleabay for another Isar that is in working order. They do exist.
Then get a 'mate down the pub' to fit it for you - because you really can't trust those tradespeople, can you? Imagine that...trying to find specific seals and gaskets in order to save a boiler, when they could have condemned it on the spot and sold you a new one.

Don't forget to post back on here about how the whole job cost less than £150 including the boiler, and that all gas engineers are lying, robbing, cheating, opportunistic rascals.

Seriously, look for a used one on Fleabay but get someone who is registered to check it over and fit it properly.
