What language is considered acceptable on this forum?

Whilst I am all for healthy debate at what point does language become unacceptable?

To disagree and question is good, derogatory replies or remarks are not.

At what point do we draw the line?

Right through the words *******, ********, and ******!!!

Seriously, from what I've seen, the odd bl and sh and bu are used and the odd f all arranged so as not to offend the censoring software!

But as for personal grief, that is strictly a no-no. Having been offended once by a narrow-minded poster, I feel very strongly this is wrong. You cannot go around saying very personal things to individuals or groups of people.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion - the problem is that some don't see it this way. There seems to be black & white in some minds, but no grey.

Just because you do not agree is no cause to start a slanging match.

This is a bit of a can of worms, isn't it?

I mean, generally in the world if there was more tolerance and acceptance, it would be a far better place, n'est-ce pas?

Ours is a democracy and free speech is allowed - up to a point. Which is kind of full circle, because that was your question D & J, where DO you draw the line?

My simple philosophy is this:

Don't do unto others that which you would not like done to yourself.

Blow me ... I like a little fun ... Hope it wasn't me that offended you SS .. if so then I apologise !! ... I am aware you had mentioned a couple of sad (grief -- sad) situations in life.

I think that they have got it about right on this forum, it forces people to express themselves more eloquently for a start. There is a tendency for people to swear when they are stuck for words and cannot communicate their point of view clearly.

Let's not dumb down the forum because people can't be bothered to express themselves in a adult manner. Anyhoo, if an expletive is necessary, it can always be slipped in by means of deliberate typo! :p

Remember this next time you are "intimate" with your partners! Just think for a minute, "Would I want a man to do that to me?"

Anyway, I agree, personal slanging matches are never a good idea, but I think I have only seen a couple of people ever take things personally on this forum. That is the problem with the medium of text, you may be saying something with your tongue shoved firmly in your cheek, but the other person doesn't necessarily know that.

Hmmm, yes, I always seem to type things purely tongue in cheek, but often when I read them back I see that they could be read in a way to cause offence :( So if I ever post anything, and it could be read as good or bad, I mean the former.
