The training is fine. Its just that any human can make a silly mistake from time to time.
The trick is to learn to visually check everything when commissioning.
As well as checking the pressure increase when the heating warms up to see that the EXV is functioning properly.

No, specifically I do my procedure to check those aspects!
Once confirmed its OK, then I would leave system open.

I went on behalf of a manufacturer under the warranty and all the symptoms indicated the installer had left the plastic covers on the heating pipes when fitting the boiler.
Asked the owner to point that out to the installer as otherwise my visit would be chargeable!
When I arrived I did not think he had told his installer ( or had fitted it himself ) and thought that it was a boiler fault.
Leaving the plastic bungs in place cost him £84 for my visit.
Not only a silly mistake, but before going I had told the owner what the problem was to enable him to have it sorted!

ive had this very same issue with a BG installed boiler. It was at a house i was fitting a bathroom and i was asked about the boiler pressure and i got the customer to call BG back as it was under warranty scheeme. BG engineer came and found the exp vessel not connected.
i also know a BG engineer who fixs installation faults every day of the week, most down to very poor workmanship.
with the WB junior not having a pressure sensor they can get a rippled/ damaged hex if left running without pressure/wata, one reason why its best not fit a WB in a loft space at the top of a system.

Jesus tony ffs ur method is ****** and i suspect ur back tracking as usual, didnt u say earlier in the tgread that the engineer had left hs flexible fill hose on the scgraeder and u slated him for that.! Your ramblings would be funny if they werent so incorrect.

TBF to Tony I suggested it could be that and he agreed
I didn't know it came already disconnected.
I thought that was because the plastic parts split and caused a mains water flood?
His £84 diagnostic fee hasn't gone up since the 70's
