Incorrect statement amnesty

To vicariously gloat over the 60-year old assistance during WW2 tarnishes the invaluable contribution that is was. When I've visited America I've been wary of meeting exactly the type of uncivilised and misogynistic loudmouth we're seeing here.

However, I've been lucky enough to meet only people like mlb3c - courteous and thinking people whose behaviour would have made proud all those Americans who died in service.

they love our pubs, history, black & white houses, warm beer etc.
Tony

I can think of one who doesn't love our pubs, they're cr*p apparently

BTW, when you say black and white houses, I presume you mean Elizabethan ones, which of course in order to be historically correct should really be black and yellow.

Tony, know your place !!

Yes, but if you don't count Nylon, the transistor, powered flight, kellogs cornflakes, plastic, the micro chip, the defeat of Germany in the second world war; what did the Americans ever do for us?

The light bulb, artificial hearts, elvis presley, Curt Cobain, Marilyn Munro, the sewing machine, Playboy magazine (come on a bunch of Shermans Tankers like you lot must have read it  ), popcorn, the Cadillac, the jumbo jet, Victory in the cold war, background radiation from the big bang, nuclear fission, stockings (yeah I bet you all wear them) Hubble space telescope, Mars rovers (not a football team) production line maufacture, the typewriter and last but not least the latex condom

background radiation from the big bang ? You checking to see if we're still awake :D

As to Softus and his crusade against racism, I would ask...
Well go on then coward - ask me.

In the meantime, did you not encounter any of these news reports, or doesn't it count when racism affects only 'foreigners'?

Perhaps you should tell all those victims that the racially motivated element of the assault was all their minds? Naturally you can't tell the dead ones that, but they weren't English anyway were they.

No, two guys whose names I can't remember were doing an experiment with some kind of giant listening device and needed to get no background noise. They got a persistent hiss that at first they put down to all the pigeon **** on this thing. After cleaning it all off, which must have been worth watching, it was still there. Any way to cut a long story short they discovered it was a a background hiss caused by the residual heat radiation from the big bang 3 degrees above absolute zero

Which goes to show that even pigeon **** has it's place in history

ps I forgot bubble gum, chewing gum and the milk shake

and Napalm

and Stephen King and Bill Bryson, who I saw on a train about a week ago, looking moody. Read "notes from a small Island" which is about the british, if you want to laugh till you wet yourself.

Ah well - there is always the inescapable fact that you consider it amusing to tell lies.

Oh, I thought you meant they'd invented it :!: "notes from a small island", yes a good read! Frighteningly accurate!

Traffic lights were invented by a black American I believe!

I once tried to calculate how many months I wait for them to change to green when no traffic is passing in the opposite direction.

However, wasn't it the americans who landed the first ( American ) man on the moon?

Wasn't it the Americans who launched the space shuttle that killed the first English lady radio amateur to be killed in a space mission? ***

The Americans have done a lot in this world and I fully support their aims of a free world where the individual has considerable freedom to live as they wish to.

If only Colin Powell had not slightly fallen from power he would have been their first black President ( and would have been a lot better than Bush ) and Condelisa Rice is doing very well at the moment and with a PhD is a lot better qualified that the cattle rancher or whatever Bush is meant to be.

Tony

*** I am not blaming the Americans as a Country for that accident, although they could have taken the advice of the "O" ring seal contractors not to launch at -30 F. Space travel is more dangerous than the 27 bus in Beruit. But they did allow English specialists to travel on board.

I'm just going to go on and on until I die

Rumour has it that he refused to run because he was frightened of being assasinated by the the religious right
