They should not give you willy nilly advice without qualifying it that this change should only be done by a qualified electrician for all the reasons given above.
If they give that advice and something goes wrong they could be liable. For this reason, electrical wholesalers will not give advice 'over the counter' to DIYers.
If you have a correspondence going with Endon i suggest you advise them that they must qualify tech advice accordingly.
