Inflation finally improves

UK inflation, as measured by the CPI, was 7.9% in the year to June, down from 8.7% in the year to May. UK inflation peaked at 11.1% in October 2022.

EU inflation was 6.4% in June, down from 7.1% in May, In June 2022, EU inflation was 9.6%.

Inflation in the Eurozone was 5.5% in June, down from 6.1% in May. Eurozone inflation was 8.6% in June 2022.

In Germany, inflation was 6.8% in June, up from 6.3% in May.

Now to the important point - over what timescale do you want to discuss this.

I will let you pick it.
Germany is in recession and still experiencing inflation. That has nothing to do with brexit. More likely the shift away from German manufacturing

German inflation is below that of the UK.

Brexit makes a poor situation worse.

Our performance post Brexit has been weak.

Here is the kicker.

Productivity (output per worker) is set to pick up over 2024 (by 1.2%) as GDP growth overtakes employment growth. Yet productivity remains sluggish by historical comparison, staying 2% below its (already weak) pre-COVID trend, and 20% below its pre-financial crisis trend by the end of our forecast.

That is the kicker - post financial crisis we brought in austerity and then doubled down on that with Brexit.

Post financial crisis instead of punishing the bankers we punished the average joe with Austerity and as austerity started to take its toll we then doubled down by blaming it on the EU and bringing about Brexit.

We wouldn't have had Brexit if the Tories didnt implement austerity. Neither Brexit or Austerity were warranted.

No wonder productivity is down when people have enjoyed the benefits of working from home.

Lol and why has it been sluggish in the decade before that boyo.
The benefit system difference between working and not working being negligible. Doesent exactly inspire you to work your nuts off. Lessons still not been learnt as they import brickies etc who are guaranteed 80% of the homegrown tradesman are earnings.

Lol, Germany has better labour productivity than the UK and a more generous benefits system.

Is that it - blame it on benefits. How old are you?

So we should train up our own - can you tell me how much this government has invested in skills training or have they left it to the market to decide?

Is this a join the dots puzzle?
