inline fans do not produce much noise - where is the sound actually coming from?
From the bathroom ducting
I have just solid ducting from bathroom to fan and then fan to vent part flexi and some solid attachments

That sounds like the fan just sucking up air. Take the front of ceiling vent off and see what happens
Still same issue.
Would it be quieter with flexible duct?
From vent to fan it's solid duct and from fan to vent it's flexible.
I agree with Murdochchat in-line fans are normally quiet.If you put your hand on the fan or the ducting while it's running can you feel excessive vibration, that could indicate a faulty fan. Is the air intake loose in the ceiling cladding. I would not think flexible ducting would make any difference. Moving the fan further away from the intake might improve it.
