Recently enclosed porch. There are original brick columns supporting roof/second floor.
I believe it's considered brick veneer as there is wood inside columns.
I am insulating and drywalling new walls.
What do I do with columns? I have been given 2 completely different sets of advice, both from contractors.
1) just insulate as possible and drywall. Area will be heated and I need not worry about condensation behind insulation.
2) Do not insulate or drywall over columns as condensation will cause mold/rot problems and may compromise the brick.
I don't mind the appearance of brick, but I'm in Central PA and on days like today (12° F) the brick is very cold and I can feel air movement.
