Insulating the internal walls of a loft conversion

Sorry, didn't mean to annoy anyone, you've been very helpful, it's just this is the first time I've done anything like this :(

By "sealed" I thought the silver insulation would need to be joined to the top of the wall with an air tight seal though?

Nah, you're not annoying Bob although many of the posters on here are! You can only do what is practicable to do so. The insulation does not need to be physically sealed with a tape or sealant but stuff some insulation into the join between the Rockwool you can see in your pic and the bottom of the silver insulation to seal it.

There may be a gap between the Rockwool you can see in your pic and the top of the wall. Unless you are prepared to lift the boards or drop the ceiling in this location then you cannot address that aspect can you?
