Ireland was as far more united land than Britain. Across the whole land they had a shared language, culture, religion, and even laws. Although the kingdoms did fight, it was never too destructive. Unlike Britain with many waring factions, and then Danes, Vikings, Normans etc. all causing mayhem before England and Scotland started fighting.
By comparison Ireland had always been peaceful and united. One hand, one people.

Essentially the struggle we face as white people seems to be to be willing to be open to the tiresome boring, painful and often lethal effects of racism right here in the UK now.
I can understand that - it's inconvenient, bloody uncomfortable, and it demands that I face the facts!
...of course I personally would rather raise spurious critiques of anyone who is trying to demand that I look at this stuff. It's a bugger having a conscience!

The English were Catholics also.
A lot of so called Irish clans were of Anglo/Norman descent.
East Ulster was Scottish.
My point is that Ireland was never a single state.
Nationalists like to peddle origin myths to justify their nationalism.
The idea that Ireland was at one time a single unified country inhabited by a people of a common origin until along came the English and spoilt everthing is a myth.
The bigger topic, the absolute and disgusting tragedy, is that black people are killed disproportionately.
If you are concerned about people being killed, and specifically about the mechanisms and reasons for who is killing people and why - if you consider it a bigger topic - do please do some research and share it. Let us be reminded that we are talking about real people being killed, here now in the UK - this is not a theoretical conversation or historical musing.
The above means nothing, Scotland shared a common language and culture with Ireland for centuries but that doesn't make Scotland Irish does it.
GB shares a common language (English) , culture, religion and even laws.
Therefor everyone in GB is English and Anglo/Saxon in origin

Just saying why just blame white people, I thought you mentioned the words uncomfortable & inconvenient. Is there only one direction you want to approach the subject or is it uncomfortable to look at all directions?
He hated the British.
It's uncomfortable for me - as a white person who benefits in many ways from the effects of racism, and who doesn't face the daily grind of racism, who doesn't have to face the additional risks of death which racism leads to - to look at this stuff.
It would be far more comfortable for me as a white person to question, undermine, criticism or attack those from BLM and elsewhere who are trying to bring racism to my (white) attention.
Part of the confusion, I think, comes from an antiquated notion of what racism is - the idea that racism is simply prejudice from one group towards another. The crucial thing that is missing from this is recognising power differences.
