this problem started fairly and squarely with the tories although left to carry on by labour

the right to buy was started by thatcher the money from sales wasn't allowed to be used for building new homes causing an ever growing shortage off reasonable cost rental housing although labour tightened the criteria the haven't stopped the right to buy completely

it has served both parties as the money raised has been used to improve the housing stock with excess monies returned to the treasury by a reduction in the money from central government towards running cost off the same amount

PS Why do so many on here choose the Daily Mail to pick on? There are other papers out there that carry the same stories. After all it wasn't the DM that broke the story about Laws and his expenses fiddle.
If there are families claiming £26,000 + per year in benefits, do we blame the paper for publishing these facts? If not the press then who do we blame?
At the end of the day, this govt has only been in power 2 weeks. Can someone stand up and blame the last administration of 13yrs please???

So you read the article and still agree that it is right that bankrupt Britain should bankroll all and sundry who arrive on our shores? We are paying some of these people a million pound every 10 years. Do you think it's right? Well do you?
 
Wouldn't we be better off without any council housing? Just have policed tower blocks in the middle of the country with a dedicated bus route to the local town.
The blocks could have their own shops etc.

If people can't afford a house, they will have to take what they are given.

Why would they need shops - simply give them the precise calorific intake required. Don't let them smoke or drink or do anything that may mean they will need "above average" medical help.

You could in fact bus them out to do those unpleasant little jobs that need doing - tidying up the countryside, dredging canals etc.

We could even give these communities names - Safe Territory, At Last Actually Liberated. Or "STALAG".
