TBH I don't understand the objective of SW's post, but I've done my best to answer his question.

I can't follow his logic either, although I think he is attempting to show that plumbing is a trade.

Anyone can do pretty much any trade they wish, just that to deal with certain specifics within that trade, a suitably skilled, competent person would be wisely employed to take the task on.
