Johnson Is So Useless

Covid 19 and its various strains. Which is not the same as flu.
Maybe people will need covid 19 vaccines every year for some time, just like we have flu vaccines.
But have we had lockdowns and the wrecking of the world economy for flu?

A bit like bleach - we don't need different bleach each time a new germ is discovered. Dettol has been killing coronavirus for years!
Well best you ingest some as the previous POTUS suggested

But care to tell us how many excess deaths will occur due to missed/cancelled scans and treatments?

They won't of course be recorded as covid related, but that makes no difference to the victims does it!

Boris is passing on NHS guidance? How do i work that out..? How do you NOT work it out more like..!
So, everything that Boris has been saying has come from the NHS?

All those ridiculous, ill-timed, nonsensical decisions, and changes of mind were driven by the NHS?

Yes, we did for Spanish flu, that is exactly what happened. Look up the Roaring Twenties, that followed WW1 and Spanish Flu. Much of the economic growth was fuelled by people wanting to get out and build after years of being shut away.

And for the plagues all those years ago.

We've been through this before, and survived it. People always moan though, because they don't look at the bigger picture. The economy will recover. I want as many of my family and friends alive to enjoy it.

Unless we just accept the virus as we do with flu, there is not other way to beat it in the long term.
And we have a winner (y)

All the countries that have managed to keep the virus out have just deferred the problem till a later date unless they also go down the vaccine route or choose to shut themselves off from the world.
Do you think the 'virus' respects borders?

Unless you have total lockdown (and that means local as well as national) there is no chance of the 'virus' (or a new strain) not popping up every now and again...

No travel, no trade...

But the human body adapts, albeit with a few victims along the way...

That is the same with all viruses!

We've been through this before, and survived it.

Except for the tens of millions that didn't survive it.

We'd have got through this too (as a species) , by ignoring it and carrying on as if it wasn't there.

Your reasoning is confused.

A funny thing that...

Well in the UK anyway...

"a 'memorandum for public use' written in July 1918, that advised people to stay at home if they were sick and to avoid large gatherings, was buried by the government."

"There are national circumstances in which the major duty is to 'carry on', even when risk to health and life is involved."

"There was no centrally imposed lockdown to curb the spread of infection"

"Pubs mostly stayed open. The Football League and the FA Cup had been cancelled, but there was no effort to cancel other matches or limit crowds, with men's teams playing in regional competitions, and women's football, which attracted large crowds, continuing throughout the pandemic."

Yes, but people were more sensible then, and tended to look after themselves, rather than throw caution to the wind and risk killing their relatives.

We really should try to learn from history. Maybe next time ...

I was talking about the economy, in response to

We, as in society, humanity, our economy, survived, and grew stronger, in spite of lockdowns
Lockdowns?

see post #54

And there was also the wee matter of rebuilding after WWI

So was there a lockdown or not?

Call it what you like. A self-imposed lockdown is still a lockdown.

No! As I said previously, data might come form the NHS, the decisions come from government.
Your satirical post might be lost on some.
