Kitchen tiling

Thanks GCOL again. Happy xmas and New Year to all.

I am off and rolling with the tiling. It is going ok and what I have done so far has passed the litmus test- the fiance!!!

In planning I did however muck up where the sockets are to be.

The kitchen installer placed a switch for the extractor fan very close to an electrical point. As such a tile is needs to go under the whole of the extractor switch and the socket.

How can I cut a whole in the centre of the tile?


Shall I just cut the tile down and then stick the pieces together?

To do the job properly, you'll need to use an angle grinder (ideally with a diamond disc, but you'll probably get away with a cheap stone disc). Mark out the hole and make the cuts on the face of the tile. You'll notice that because the cutting wheel is round, it will not make a complete cut into the corner so you'll need to turn the tile over and finish the cuts from the back of the tile.
