Absolutely. I have suffered from exactly this. The manufacturer sends a "replacement", but the look and often the light output is not the same. .... Never again for me will I install an integrated LED product. GU10 all the way.
Indeed. Given that, for reasons I've explained, one cannot rely on a warranty to be able to replace with an identical product, if I buy multiple things (although I'd probably never buy 'downlights' :) ) or different things which need to 'match' in some sense, if it's financially sensible I always try to buy a spare or three at the time of the initial purchase.

In a perfect World, buy a spare. but I'm a bit of a squirrel and have (she tells me) enough junk that I could throw away, without having 443* random downlights from sundry installs. Back a few warranty years, we were told that LEDs were the dog's whotsits and had a lifetime of 20,000 hours. Now they look like a very expensive alternative to GLS bulbs that were available for 20p or so. But that's the price of energy efficiency, I suppose. The polar bears will be thankful when they get their ice back.

*Wooo spooky. I just plucked that number out of the air. And its a prime jobby.....

Similar here, but if the spares are fairly cheap, and not too bulky to store, it can be a better option than to either have to live with a slightly 'not identical' set of products OR replace the entire set.

That may have been true, and may still be true, but, as I always remind people, the quoted 'life expectancies' are invariably medians - such that a median lifetime of 20,000 hours does not preclude the possibility that nearly half opf them might die within the first 2 hours ;)
