My dad's boiler has low pressure so I tried to increase the pressure but as soon as I turn the filling loop valve, it leaks!

I think the valve is faulty as the plastic valve handle is already half broke.

He lives in a housing association so I will ask them to send a gas engineer round to fix it but will he need to turn the gas supply off at the meter to do this? My dad's gas meter is in the back garden and his garden is so overgrown there is no access to the meter at the moment. I would need to get someone round to clear all the overgrowth if the engineer can't do the work without shutting the gas supply off at the meter.

He has a worcester bosch greenstar boiler.

If it's a system pressure issue and the filling loop is leaking then no, gas does not need to be off.

Would still suggest someone is arranged to cut back the overgrowth, no time at all with a strimmer and a cutting blade, if it's too bad it can be a real haven for vermin and the like and they end up in the house. If he's at all a vulnerable person he should be able to get help.

Who would be able to provide help to vulnerable people? he is elderly and bed bound. The housing association won't help with garden growth.

There are loads of charities etc that have volunteers to help the vulnerable/disabled/elderly with things like that. I'm sure there will be support groups in the locale that would be able to help I would think.

Not sure who your local council is but they may be able to provide information on local community groups and volunteer services, other groups like Help The Aged etc can also be a great resource. Lots of stuff out there to sift through and groups to contact. Take it there isn't any family or friends locally that are able to help out?

Thanks, will have a look into it.

I was thinking the same. When I am at my sons place, I clear the garden and do house chores without thinking
