small holes are ok in iweb joist, look on manufacturers sites for exact limits to where and sizes. Must be worth a very carefully drilled hole there to have a closer look.
Well the plumber didn't fancy the job and pulled out today- citing concerns over whether the connector was push-fit or solvent. Mentioned building works etc but really??
Not much of a plumber - if certainly looks like it's pushfit but even then - you get in there and have a proper look about, keeping the client informed as to what's possible and what's not as you go along, it's not difficult.
You're better off without him if that's his attitude.
Just by way of update the part of the connector facing the wall had been drilled in error when being installed, and had then been blanked off with another piece of plastic and then siliconed, when the house was being "built" by whatever cowboys Wainhomes were using at the time . All replaced with new parts now.
