Nobody should die... but just to play devil's advocate, how come there are so many people out there who ignore the fact that drugs do shiit to a body? When do we start taking a more responsible attitude to ourselves?! Can have a darn fine night out without drugs and drinking so much that medical help is needed...
And what about fighting? I live near 3 pubs and seems that today's choice of a fun evening out is to drink silly amounts then fight. We see the flashing blues of police and ambulance lights here about 40 times a year, mainly in the warmer months. Apparently each ambulance call costs £247, and my street is just one street in the UK and that's repeated up and down the country.
Then there is the puke, the broken glass, the littering, the urinating against people's front doors (!), damage to people's properties and cars... we've had a car written off by a drunk driver, one of four he managed to trash in less than 5 mins. All of these things cost to clear up or fix.
I used to drink a lot as a youngster, never had a fight, never needed to go to hospital, nor my friends or anyone in the pubs or nightclubs we went to. So what's changing? There seems to be a sense of entitlement that folk seem to have now to do whatever the hell they like, not caring how it affects others.
Yes, we pay national insurance & tax but the pot to pay for all of these services is not limitless. We as a nation need to stop a lot of this drinking culture, as well as take responsibility for ourselves. Nobody should die for being an idiot, of course not, but we should stop being such an idiot in the first place surely?
