Loft aerial upgrade

Thanks for putting me right. ATV have suggested a Yagi18A for my roof when I can get up there but have also suggested trying the back end of this aerial in my loft in the meantime as this should still out perform a Log periodic. Worth a try and nothing lost. I am also going to give the Lancaster transmitter a go.

Personally for the relatively low cost of one I'd be inclined to try a lowish gain masthead amp on the LP in the loft.
It may just amplify a poor signal, though, with no benefit.

Justin sells a 7-22dB variable kit at £32, https://www.aerialsandtv.com/product/mast-head-amp-1-way-c-w-4-f-connectors or a cheaper 12/18dB switchable mains version (of power is available in loft) https://www.aerialsandtv.com/product/mains-high-gain-amplifier-booster. You may even have a set back amp or similar that could be tried in a temporary 'lash up' to see if it helps?

When I moved in around 5 yrs ago I immediately noticed dishes and some kind of Sky set up so I asked the guy why. Oh well we are over 25 miles to the transmitter and the reception is crap he replied. Undaunted I got a high gain aeriel from B & Q just over a metre long and bought another of my secret weapons from Vision Plus - a gold standard four way signal amplifier (we have four tellies). Fitted the whole lot together in the roof NOT ON THE ROOF with the aerial pointing at the transmitter and immediately got the required 100+ channels.
