argh. just posted about the above and it's vanished.. try again.

why do lorries block the outside lane of a dual carriageway when there is a queue.
Ive just been delayed by 45 mins by a lorry pulling out into the outside lane and stopping, all i wanted to do was turn right at the end of the dual carriageway and go down a side road.. but i couldnt!
i hate q jumpers too... but what is the purpose of this move.!
all it does is stretch the queues back further.
surely it is illegal just like tractors blocking the carriageway at 10mph for an age.

comments please... esp from drivers who do this... why!!!? :?:

'cos when you're at the back of a queue, it really ****es you off that rsoles pushes to the front.

as i said i hate q jumpers too.. but moving into the outside lane just extends the q further... its just selfish... let one arsehole go by or delay 100 other drivers by extending the q even further back.

ever heard of a 'merge in turn'

as i said all i wanted to to was turn right 500m past the lorry... yet it took me 45mins to get far enough along the road to do THAT!

and as for pulling into the outside lane at the last minute (not that that happened... but ive seen it done) and force the car overtaking.. (legally i might add) to brake hard from 60mph to 0mph in seconds.. that is just stupid and dangerous.

But it isn't ONE rsole, it's dozens

If the lorry wasn't there, the outside lane might be full of rsoles, and your wait might have been longer.

So is the rsole doing 60 in the outside lane when the inside lane is blocked.

just hope the truck isn't full of canon cameras!

when it comes to roadworks etc and lane closures... there is nothin wrong with queue jumping. after all, your suposed to queue in both lanes and merge in turn.

people who drive down the middle are also blocking a public highway.

Oh funny haha Guys...that'll teach me to try a wind up!!

A wind-Up ?? where does it say that on the specs ?? Mine's battery - Sounds like another of your self-delusions to me.......

Apologies for the hijack - You'll hear no more from me on that subject. Back to the original post......

Queue-jumping is just part of a more general malaise with some people, where they like the idea that they are somehow getting one over on the suckers who are playing by the rules. Same goes for people that follow ambulances through traffic - I had to pull out once to stop a Lexus doing it, as it made me cross. Don't think they were relatives of the injured.

I think truck drivers overtake so very slowly, so one goes at 50mph and the other at 51mph, because "it takes them too long to regain the speed if they cut back". They are under a lot of pressure to deliver stuff in time, and to make sure they have enough time to abduct women and read their "specialist interest magazines", while driving.

What gets me is that on a lot of occasions, no-one uses the inside lane on a motorway. It is very tempting to undertake everybody and speed past them.

In the US you can overtake and undertake - there are no 'overtaking lanes'.

LOL...LOL...LOL @ notb665

Life is very hectic for certain drivers , not me thank god if I get to point B late its better than not at all ,

many years ago I was a very ,very aggressive driver when I was a sole operater in my business , I was forever sat on top of my LDV steering wheel shrieking an waving fist at numbskulls/ F***wits...
Their crime !!...lol to hold me up on the the M66 /M62 /etc ....around where I needed too jump on off to get to work ,
I would turn up at jobs harrassed/stressed ....an seething ...

what changed me was taking on a YTS lad , he was a good worker but then he was ducking/diving ...
I was in my local with my mates all supping away when in comes this Martins dad , strode over an said to me
"My lad isnt working for you anymore , he is terrified with your road rage driving ,he says youre dangerous an such a nasty bast**d to work with after you go to a job , !!!!"
I laughed it off an said .... "Sorry " sarcastically
but when I looked around my old mates were looking as if to say "You moz, are a nasty horrible driver!!"
Which I was ...... :(
All blokes like to think we are great /Boss drivers ... but to be humiliated like that ,shook me up , an from then on , Ive tried to be a courtious driver , allowing for other drivers an getting too jobs ,cool an calm ...which make the bath refit smoooooth, lol

What helped me from "raging " an ending up in court on Murder charges ..

is be like *Jesus*..
forgive them ,be Saintly/Knightly...lol
if fails ..

then court slowly to ten , by then the incident is over gone ,an history ,lol

My bruv in law drives a HGV for JJB Sports an they enforce time tables an he gets sh*t, if delieverys are late whatever the road conditions ...... now that IS A STRESSFUL JOB !

Actually the thing that changed me to being a slower driver was with a previous job, where I lived in York, but had to go down to Leatherhead once a week. I would leave at around 4am, and then try to tear down as quickly as possible.

Occasionally you would pass something memorable and slow-moving early on in the journey, like a train on a low loader and then, some hours after passing it, I would stop for a Diet Coke and packet of Salt & Vinegar Discos for Breakfast, start up again after no more than a 5 minute break and then find myself passing the same thing again.

Extra speed doesn't make a whole heap of difference to your arrival time (maybe 15 minutes or so on a four and a half hour journey) so its better to just slow down, enjoy the ride, and not be permanently on edge looking for the next overtaking opportunity.

So that means the ones who got there first and are then overtaken by the late rsoles get disadvantaged? Stuff that, you join the queue last, or you can wait behind me because I will be pacing the inside lane vehicles. I HATE queue jumpers
