Some years later I heard the Bruce Springsteen original, and the line is "Revved up like a deuce", which didn't make any more sense but at least it was a line of proper words.

She has a fantastic voice - great song. Playing it now. Not even sure it was a hit here - could be wrong. Never heard it until I went on the Continent.
Sorry, I'll be pedantic; 'A Deuce Coupe' is a 1932 Ford with the 'deuce' referring to the '2' of 1932. That model year was one of the easiest years to work on and modify (by taking body panels off), install different motors; one of the 'Hot Rodder's' cars of choice, particularly in the 1940's.
