mma vs boxing

ok, boxing is a tough sport... watching Haye on ringside earlier. However MMA is much tougher.

In boxing you have a bloke your size wanting to punch your lights out with big squidgy gloves on, and if you get put down you have 8 seconds to decide if you want to carry on... whereas in MMA... you face a geezer who wants to either beat you senseless or choke you until you black out... and they wear really lightweight gloves (so hardly any padding) and when you get put down with a punch, the other guy can just jump on you and either continue to batter you, or try to stop you breathing !!!!!

what do you mean?

Boxing has been around for decades... TV glorifies Gypsies weddings and bare knuckle boxing..... but MMA is the ultiimate man on man combat sport... much more respect than poxy premiership football players who think it;s right to headbut old men !!!!!

How can this MMA be the 'ultimate', where the people use gloves, when 'gypsy' as you call it, bare knuckle fighting takes place? Possibly to the death, for honour of the Family? I think you O/D'ed on watching too much TV. Cage Fighting would come a close second, then wrestling on late '70's TV, Big Daddy. Would you have liked him to slamdunk you? Urgh the sweat and flesh! MMA whatever it is sounds like an illegal version of boxing.

and then a spelling mistake, and BOOM, they are in there with critisism, which detracts from the post made, then the post turns into a riot, with claims and counter claims.

how can it be the ultimate? because in bare knuckle boxing, you use your fists and can't hit a downed opponent. Whereas in mma, they wear light mitts, but they have bare elbows, knees and feet, and they can land an elbow in your face the minute you hit the floor having been downed...

It is brutal, and you don't have to like it, but it is the ulimate, non staged (unlike wrestling), extreme combat sport.. where they shake hands afterwards.

I'm not the one to call it extreme, that's for the organiser to say, but to me, bare knuckle fighting to the death, from the gypsy community, is more extreme than someone wearing gloves. If you disagree, thats fine. Ya can't shake hands with a dead person. As a news report says, that the TV news states, A person shown on the C4 show, was killed in a bare knuckle fight recently. The Family decided not to press charges. In MMA, there seem to be some rules, in Gypsy fighting there are no gloves, and no rules.
