mma vs boxing

Teletext said this recently - a participant in Gypsy weddings on c4, has been killed in a boxing match, but the Family decided not to press charges..Google it, lots of accidental deaths.

I did, not a dickybird about any gypsy getting killed in a boxing match.

Another of your 'ghostly' hallucinations?

As the Gypsy community is a closed community..

I don't understand your comment 'hallucinations'?

You started this thread by stating mma is much tougher than boxing.
I've yet to be convinced.
Boxers have proven themselves. mma guys certainly haven't and probably never will if the best they can do is start rolling about on the ground when the going gets tough.
You only need to have a look at jake lamotta in some of his fights and see the punishment he takes and yet remains standing.
Thats toughness of the highest order.
Choose which opponent you would rather step into the ring with and it answers your question.
Bearing in mind its the boxer who will most likely leave you in a vegative state or worse.

Apart from anything else, watching mma or whatever you call it is pure boredom. Two fellas rolling around on the ground grappling most of the time, big deal. Give me a good boxing match any day.

real fighters

Always have admired Ray Shaw as he gave away many years and a lot of weight in this fight. He is a multi-millionaire apparently. Lenny died aged 49 from Cancer.

That sounds like a couple of gay guys that like a tumble, whereas boxing is squaring up, sorting it, and respecting your opponent at the end. Is there mud involved in this MMA or whatever? Sounds a joke.

I would rather take a punch from an MMA fighter, than a heavyweight boxer any day of the week

The majority of MMA fights always end up on the floor, and when the fists start flying in the ref stops the fight as its the rules of MMA

Against a fighter who does not know all aspects of MMA...yes, the win is easy...but just check out some of these highlights if don't believe that that MMA fighters are not tough..

The responses from the boxing fans is simply showing that you don't understand MMA. An MMA fight can go to ground in the first second, but it can and does often remain a boxing, or kick boxing fight for the full duration.

A couple of things to note, MMA fighters wear lighter gloves... so the punishment you talk about that boxers take is a bit like being hit really hard with a cushion !!! but more importantly, in MMA, you can get hit by a forearm, elbow, shin, knee or foot in the face, and none of those are wearing padding.

MMA rounds are 5 minutes, not three - and i concede they don't go twelve rounds, but it doesn't take long for lactic acid to build up, and 5 minutes of getting an elbow smashing into your cheekbone is a long time.

In boxing, boxers can either hug each other for long spells, or backtrack and avoid getting hit. If an MMA fight gets into a clinch and not much happens, the ref will stand 'em up again.

Don't get me wrong, i love boxing, but i think it's time MMA got some limelight.
