All that is correct, but an examiner would (should) refuse to test or abandon it as soon as he saw such stuff

Nobody told me.

I made my own mind up. It's experience and knowledge involved.

A bit like jacking up on a disc. So unsafe it doesn't need any explaining (to anybody with mechanical sense)

Not everyone. Just a small number. It's not so much out of step, but inability to read the T&C.
