Moving my bathroom (Soil Pipe Issue)

I didn't realise it was notifiable so fair play to you. :D

Would still keep it to myself though :D

So is that a back handed compliment or a sarcastic slagging. :?:

Take it anyway you want, we're talking about moving a bathroom here. Any decent plumber could do that in their sleep, and overcome any problems without causing the house to fall down or go on fire.

You and swidders just keep jumping through all of your hoops, I'll keep ducking and diving some of them.

Don’t ya just love cowboys  ; Sure any decent plumber could almost certainly do the plumbing & even the foul drain but what about complying with the rest of the regulations?

I bet you don't even know what they are! And what happens when the poor sod comes to sell his house? But I suppose your answer to that would be just lie or act stupid & hope to get away with it; that’s getting increasingly more difficult my friend! It’s nearly always just as easy & no more expensive to do the job properly as it is to totally balls it up.

I don’t like regulation any more than the rest but it’s attitudes like that which cause even more legislation & regulation & leave poor unsuspecting souls who have been the victim of someone with an attitude like yours to end up on this forum looking for advice to sort out their problems. Your perfectly entitled to you own views, your own way of doing things, duck & dive & be as big a cowboy as you like but don’t condemn others who actually know what they are talking about & try & give proper advice.

As I said previously, its down to the OP to take it or leave it; have a nice day! ;)

I was waiting for that.  So you wouldn't trust yourself to move a bathroom without having some bc official holding your hand. That's up to you, while you're kissing his 4rse some of us would have the job done, and properly. And once it's done, how is that going to cause future problems with the sale of the house. You may think that anyone who has the intelligence to ignore some of the more unneccessary and unenforcable rules is a cowboy. I would say, you know nothing of me, or my work ethic. So carry on, think what you will, who gives a 4x.

I agree that it's a ball-ache getting BCO involved and seemingly a waste of money. I also agree that any decent plumber will do a good job with the installation.

It may well be the case that moving the bathroom will be of no structural consequence. The trouble is, neither you, nor I can be sure with regards to the op's house. The op has asked for info regarding his proposed new soil pipe.

The fact that he has asked indicates to me that he may well not use a decent plumber (who would know anyway, so why ask?) and may be intending to do it himself. It also indicates that he may have limited knowledge of buildings and structures (otherwise he would be unlikely to have ask a relatively trivial question).

Guessing that he intends to do the work himself, and may thus be unaware of what constitutes a "good" job in relation to building regs requirements, are we not morally bound to point out that this work requires potentially specialist professional input at some stage in the planning or building process?

WHAT?

er, because it,s a DIY forum
And because maybe he want's to know if the plumber he "might" employ
is doing the job correctly .

Knowlegde is power,,, with respect.

In which case, he may want to ask the "good" plumber about the work being notifiable ;)

Glad to hear it. I agree that it's a ball-ache getting BCO involved and seemingly a waste of money. I also agree that any decent plumber will do a good job with the installation.

Fair play swidders, they're not rocket science are they?

Personally, I don't go near these type of jobs if I can avoid them, too much bleedin work involved in bathrooms.
