Does anybody on here do it? Starting to see quite a few in the woods on my dog walks. Some could make a nice meal, some could poison me.

Yesterday I saw this one which I assumed to be edible.

And this one that looked like it would kill me.

So, anyone brave or knowledgeable enough to try mushroom foraging?

Some can give you a different type of trip. Try googling mushroom foraging groups.

I see a few up Cannock Chase foraging, whilst I'm hacking around Beau Dessert. I ask if they are looking for my ball....

Saw some eastern europeans out foraging in the woods near me, asked them how do you know if they are poisonous, they said touch the cut stem on your tung if it tingles dont eat it, but an old retired army doctor friend who has spent a lot of time in germany said wouldn't trust that lots of people poison themselves over there, especially when germany unified and all the easterners came .

Try this

Puff balls and hedgehogs are my limit.

Puff balls are large football size mushrooms and there is nothing like them. Hedge hogs are white with spikes (not gill or sponge) underneath. Again white and spiky underneath = unique

There’s apps you can get to identify mushrooms. They seem quite accurate

Best one if you can find it is Chicken o' the Woods.

Looks horribly poisonous (is bright yellow), but tastes delicious fried in butter.

Never seen it in any shops.
