I think he means MP's have a good handle on their reality, getting into and staying in the corridors of power, the position and the wealth that comes with it. Safe seats in sewn up constituencies and the possibility of moving into the Lords for the lobbying and directorships. Away from the bigger picture that the country is struggling with a bust economy, multiculturalism and unemployment.
