Hi

Getting a little confused with all the new regs that are coming in.

The light bulb in my living room has now expired. It was a 60W bulb and the room was never really bright enough so thinking of replacing it with a 100W bulb.

Do I
a) Need to get it P2 tested to ensure that I'm not overloading the circuit before or after changing it.
b) Do I need to inform building control so they can check that the lamp shade rating will be OK
c) Get a structural engineer to check that the joists are strong enough to carry the extra weight.
d) Get the health and Safety people in to check that the step ladder conforms to the current safety regs

Should I
a) Considering the state of NHS at the moment pre book a bed in case of accident whilst carrying out this modification
b) Give up the idea completely and by a torch instead.

Suppose if push comes to shove I could always try to sell the house with complete with broken light bulb and buy a new house with working light bulbs.

How is the average joe meant to know what they can and can’t do these days?

All advice appreciated

how do you know the lightbulb has expired? it may be resting

I would suggest that you call your local nhs centre and ask that they send a physcologist to ask the lightbulb if it has any reasons why it should not work.

If it does not want to work then it should be given a government grant and support to see if this will help.

If the lightbulb has actualy died then a death certificate will be required and as you are the keeper of said lightbulb you may be able to get a grant to cover funeral expenses of said lightbulb.

If this is so then you will require a replacement lightbulb, for this you should advertise in your local job centre for a new lightbulb, but you will not be allwed toadvertise the job as a light bulb as anyone of a non light skin colour may take offence.

To prevent this i suggest you advertise the requirement under the heading of new ilumination device required, for which you will no doubt get several thousand applicants.

You should check all the applications received being careful not to discrminate, particularly against those who are dim i.e 60w.

I would guess that the suceesful aplicant will be of Polish origin since they are often willing to, in most cases to work for less money for the same output

But it seems to be the way we are going under Deputy Prescott.
Evidently he is in charge of the country soon when Teflon Tony is away.
