New CU installed, right type RCBO for EV?

Update all...guy came back after saying not paying..., changed the EV item rcbo, put in the empty blanks, and now provided some certificate documents, under new company name to the one he invoiced on. Not paid anything yet as waiting for EV DNO registration proof.

Are you saying the certificates give one company name and the invoice gives a different company name?

Could you post a photo of the CU now?

Being able to wield a screwdriver, and being able to run a successful business, are two different skill sets.

To correct my words... his quotation (not invoice) pdf was company with x name (which did not exist on niceic), and now the certificates are from a completely different titled name. Attached three photos, first the original CU, then before he left first time (taken when I was in kitchen talking to him), and as it is now.

I assume the certs (pdf's) do not automatically appear on web page below once created? As the ones he gave me don't.. maybe takes a few weeks I guess. Anyway just forwarded them to buildingcontrol@niceic.com to ask that question.

Funny thing is I don't actually have an EV, and can't probably this year afford to get one. This work here, when I pay, is more than the value of my current car at c1200 according to carwow.

To be fair all this seems just a reflection of the murky world of tax avoidance ,warranty avoidance and over complex competence registration. The electrician who installed it is ultimately responsible for their installation, its his name on the cert unless of course its not.

In an ideal world you would have a company registered to the individual who has a qualification required to operate that business.

However, if we take competence, an electrician may have completed say a domestic installers course, then finds that they cannot sign off work as they have no experience so need an assessor or a second signature of a supervising electrician. They may join a trade body to get that, they may not, they could work with another electrician. Hence company/person A quotes for the work, carries it out and the qualified supervisor signs it off who has his own company B. Then who issues the cert ? and who gets paid... is A a sub contractor of B ?

That being the case where is the other end of the cable then?

What are you asking, if you mean is there a zappi on a wall attached obviously is the answer otherwise how do you think I did a support call to myenergi?.

.. Anyway it's a five day SLA for building control for the certs to reply to me. So I'll wait to hear from them. If they say any issues life too short I'll let the electrician take me to court as paying nothing.

(Ps some really silly comments from people here... really shows how fickle this trade is...are people really installing what 15million of these in next ten years when cannot seem as a trade to get this installed right first time every time... )

I have installed hundreds (including for OLEV/OZEV and SEAI grant eligible installations) - all correctly. I even drive an electric van myself.
