New Oven & Hob wiring

I thought we'd already established the load is 29 amps approx (oven + hob)?! He doesn't want two circuits, he wants one. The cable is 6mm2 so is suitably protected by the 32amp breaker.
Applying your thinking, then, you'd be putting a 1amp breaker on a lighting circuit with on a couple of 100w bulbs!
The poster just wanted a simple solution. At this rate they'll be eating chinese takeaway on Monday!

PS we've just done our turkey - off to sample

Merry Christmas!!

There's no reason why you can't connect both appliances in to the cooker switch. The only problem will be the amount of cable you are trying to accomodate, so, depending on how the previous connection is made to the appliance, either use a suitable junction box or a 'cooker' connection plate under the worktop in a pattres or back-box which will take 2 x 6mm cables (twin & e is ok - sheath the 'earth wire'!) as the final connection to each appliance.

Forget the mini consumer unit thing, it achieves nothing. The 32a breaker protects the entire circuit, the cooker switch merely isolates the appliances

Andr'e, follow the above and have a great Christmas dinner ;)
