Hi, I’m just getting a quote of £3400 inc VAT for new water connection for single dwelling from Thames Water. This is in addition to £240 application and design fee paid. Is that a normal price nowadays for an around 1 metre trench roughly from the footpath, 32mm mdpe pipe.

Current is a shared supply where stop valve locates on neighbour yard. Neighbour complains about water pressure last time we met. Part of the pipe on our side is cap domed to be lead pipe which seems leave me no other way.

A bit baffled by the cost honestly so just want to sense check with others who may have been through this before.

The price will include the cost of traffic management for any excavations that affect a public highway and/or footpaths.
Could have been the case, but none of this is clear on the quote except for the high price. water mains is sitting on a footpath, all I can see pedestrian can easily be directed and not much impact to the traffic as road is pretty wide albeit sometimes busy.
