While my Akita is hiding beside the sofa, not eating, not going out for a pee etc.
The GSD who normally looks at fireworks, goes "oh nice" then carries on rushing towards the park now will not go out either.
While the GSD will be out again in the morning, the akita will take a few weeks if not months to get her going out in the evenings again.

My BC's, much older step brother and much younger step sister, used to quite enjoy the noise and flashes of fire works and thunder. It never bothered the brother, but I had to have him put down in August, at 16. Over the years, the sisters attitude to them has gradually turned to complete fear and panic. She is OK with the first bang, but the subsequent ones if there are a series, causes her total panic. She has found two hidey places, when it starts - in the bath, or through the utility and under a shelf in the pantry.

She will not now go out in the garden after dark, unaccompanied.

Fck sake the amount of moaning cn'ts ive seen on Fbook earlier moaning about pops n bangs outside tonight, doesn't seem good enough to be already in a depressing lockdown we can't even light a roman candle and a few rockets in our garden.

Give me strength. Ive got this 'Polaris' special rocket ive saved for years, im going to point it at the next moaning nosey git who sticks their head out the window gesticulating.

Saw them too. Could be trolls of course. One on a local group asked "why are people setting off fireworks, it's not 4th July".

I miss the public displays where everyone congregated together and celebrated a specific moment on a specific night together. It’s the community of bonfire and fireworks nights that’s missing.

The last several years are more about 2 weeks of letting off fireworks at random rather than the celebratory and awe-inspiring displays that used to be tradition. Like football and other sports, much of the pleasure is gained from being with others at the venue and enjoying those real-time moments together.

I feel pet owners have a point. None of them used to mind when everyone knew when fireworks night was, owners could take due care with their pets because they were expecting it. But now, that is not the case... it’s a free for all which doesn’t take into account everybody.

It’s been two weeks of random pops and bangs where I live and it’s likely to continue over the weekend and we have a dog. There is nowhere I can go or take my dog to escape it.

I’m not sure how people think that is fair.

Something I have never, ever understood.
The Govt. are quite happy to take these young strong fit people to support our country but when it comes to them hitting civvy street, where's their support?
It's an absolute disgrace that they have to rely on charity.

All homeless ex forces should go to Bristol. They must have so many spare council houses they have to get foreigners to fill them.

Got a feeling of deja vu here.

How do you know they are foreigners?

I’m very confused as I thought this thread was about fireworks and bonfire nights.

If you happen to live in the South the 'bonfire season' of public displays in normal times run from Mid September to late November with different societies choosing different dates to avoid overlapping events.

Dogs can be trained to cope with the noise if owners are responsible enough...

Do you think it fair that people without dogs have to put up with the constant yapping all year round?

Because there is often nowhere to go to avoid it, and once one starts then usually several others join in!

Well I have no wish to enter into a verbal fight.

The world was not purely created for the pleasure of men. We share this planet with other species and part of the joy of living is in the sharing.

Very few people seem to have much or any understanding of what the current laws are in the UK regards to fireworks. Firework season does not start from September in the south nor the north or anywhere between. Fireworks are allowed to be purposed on Bonfire night, Diwali, Chinese New Year and New Years Eve and there are cut-off times.

We have a rescue dog. All other dogs we have owned have not been bothered too much about fireworks in the past but this animal has suffered abuse prior to us owning her, hence she is a little more sensitive.

We don’t know each other, we have never met... do you normally speak to people in this manner?

I hope your knowledge of DIY is better than your knowledge of fireworks.

Hahahahahaha. Classic! Yes, he does

Another classic! Despite his high post count, nobody knows as he still has to make his first DIY related question or answer post. He’s just an anti government, anti Brexit, anti UK habitual whinger.

I use this site to help me learn more about DIY and also with professional building queries...

I think i’ll give his advice a miss in future if he ever happens to answer one of my DIY questions. I’m not sure i’d be getting any honest or professional advice.

Mind you, it was just gone 3am when he posted so perhaps he was on call or he’d had a few swift ones and felt brave.
