No socket or hole

Hi everyone,

I’ve just moved into my first rental and noticed there’s no way to plug in the dishwasher or dryer in the space provided without drilling a hole. I’m unsure what the best approach is here—should I ask the landlord to install an additional socket or request permission to drill a hole myself?

I don’t want to come across as a troublesome tenant, but this seems like a reasonable issue to address. Any advice on how to handle this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

It appears to be a space designed to fit a dishwasher, but without a drain point, or socket, it really isn't fit for purpose.
I think I would approach the landlord saying that it looks like someone's forgotten the socket and drain for the dishwasher, and see what they suggest?

Just to add, it may be possible to squeeze a drain hose through the gap between the panel and sink; but as the bowl appears to be tight against the panel, that may be quite difficult to achieve.

You seem to have a hole at skirting height. It might suggest that there was previously a condensing dryer that didn't require any plumbing.

No way to get to that plug socket, ideally I wanted a Heat pump dryer fitted into that space and then plugged in. I know this is a brand new kitchen that has been fitted.

You just need to cut off the plug it came with, drill a suitable hole to get the cable through the side panel and fit a new plug

Landlords responsibility. Ask nicely, there should also be an inlet on the sink waste for a washing machine connection. And a Tap for the water inlet feed pipe.

I too wonder is there a socket and drain point under the sink, with enough room between the carcass and the sink underside to get a plug and drain hose through
