Oil running out?

i dont want to and your subject is irksome

Well drop out of the thread then and put your head back under the sand.

It'll happen - it's just a matter of time - and that time is being shortened all the while.

no i want to stay in this thread i can do what i like, but by god is this a monotonous subject. do you not feel youve rambled on about this enough times

I think I mentioned this before.

Oil and money - go hand in hand.

Without oil, theres no money. Without money, theres no oil.

Loose oil, loose money.

So, in short, when oil runs out (and joe, I agree, it will happen in the next 50 or so years, we were taught this in GCSE science), the world will face meltdown. Oil tankers will need armed guards, cars will grind to a halt (unless you drive a prius), electricity will stop flowing. Mass unemployment as companies go bust.

OR.

The world sets a date on which we enter a moneyless era. Yes it would take a lot of careful thought and planning. But people would still have jobs, the worlds great minds would come to the fore (instead of not being able to afford school / uni), and share their ideas on living without oil (instead of wanting to be paid millions of £ for sharing it because they feel society owes them). Society would be based on sharing, knowledge, and principles, instead of money and materialistic goods.

Lets face is, most crime is money-related, most council house estates are deprived of money. Most druggies are hooked because they were in a poor family.

Loose money, create a better world.

The above idea is based on an idea from Star Trek, from the 24th century. Prob will never happen.

The problem is that the 40 -50 years is being reassessed down to 10 or 20. Maybe even sooner. We are using ever greater amounts of oil - yet production is falling. Should the world recession end - then once again the price of oil will go through the roof and trigger yet another Global economic crash. It's just simple maths.

He's right though, isn't he?

i know i am, weve been over this so many times, hes like a stuck record.its one of his pet subjects he drags out of the cupboard and blows the dust off of when he wants to bore us all to tears

how many times are you going to go on about it? do you not get fed up of saying it?

who? and which bit?

The fact is, if we continue relying on money, we will soon have nothing to trade with and therefore the world will descend into looting and theiving.

thermo! if you have nothing to contribute, please go away.

joe, i feel we should stop banging on about the inevitable and start finding ways to solve it. Talking about it is no good, we need solutions.

Apart from wave power is there any other way of extracting energy from seawater? after all the sun has been beaming down on the sea for millions of years so it must contain a lot of energy.

lets all cut our wrists now then.....joe can go first as hes the most worried
