I think I mentioned this before.
Oil and money - go hand in hand.
Without oil, theres no money. Without money, theres no oil.
Loose oil, loose money.
So, in short, when oil runs out (and joe, I agree, it will happen in the next 50 or so years, we were taught this in GCSE science), the world will face meltdown. Oil tankers will need armed guards, cars will grind to a halt (unless you drive a prius), electricity will stop flowing. Mass unemployment as companies go bust.
OR.
The world sets a date on which we enter a moneyless era. Yes it would take a lot of careful thought and planning. But people would still have jobs, the worlds great minds would come to the fore (instead of not being able to afford school / uni), and share their ideas on living without oil (instead of wanting to be paid millions of £ for sharing it because they feel society owes them). Society would be based on sharing, knowledge, and principles, instead of money and materialistic goods.
Lets face is, most crime is money-related, most council house estates are deprived of money. Most druggies are hooked because they were in a poor family.
Loose money, create a better world.
The above idea is based on an idea from Star Trek, from the 24th century. Prob will never happen.
