Can anyone advise me on the rules for having an open stairway in a room which contains a log burner. We currently live in 2 bed terraced house and want to open up the stairs. Does this follow regs? Would we have to install fire doors/escape windows in the bedrooms upstairs? The picture attached is how it would look for reference.

What age is the property? Escape windows would be required for all habitable rooms (including ground floor) but no fire doors, care to post an existing plan (estate agent plan will do)? What age is the property?

The enhance requirements - mainly protected escape routes, additional escape routes, compartmentation and warning and detection kick in for three storeys and above
