Good to see you've finally gone GreenBound to be soon, now that I've bought an AMD1 edition.....
I think Blue is the next colour (RGB) - after all there must be some logic to the IET.... surely?

Not for BS7671. Controlgear, or machine safety, as well as some other areas, and I'm your man, but not installation standards.I just wondered whether you might have some sort of BSI 'calendar' at your fingertips
Do you believe in the tooth fairy as wellthere must be some logic to the IET.... surely?
As I wrote recently, this (dramically off-topic!) discussion is fairly exceptional, in that as a fair bit of it has actually been about 'shortcomings' of BS7671 in general. The usual situation in which I 'waste my time' in discussions relating to such possible shortcomings is in the context of attempting to determine the answer to a specific question which relates to compliance with BS7671 - when issues about clarity/interpretation/whatever of BS7671 often arise.Well, you seem happy to 'waste your time' discussing the possible shortcomings of BS7671 on this forum, where you know your comments won't be considered in the next revision. Are you saying you consider the certainty of failure to be preferable to the possibility of success?
Jest ye not - as I've just written, I almost certainly will be offering comments on the AMD 2 DPC, if not before!Don't worry BAS, John's comments will hold up publication of AMD 2 for a while!
I wonder if the person bidding on this has not paid attention:Good to see you've finally gone GreenBound to be soon, now that I've bought an AMD1 edition.....

Indeed. I intended, but forgot, to mention that in my recent post. Particularly given my 'inappropriate background' and limited experience, 'wasting my time' in discussing possible issues about BS7671 in this forum is an excellent and valuable part of the process of 'preparing the case' and 'focussing my mind' in relation to what I will eventually propose to BSI. ... but, yes, I will obvioulsy be doing some preparatory work in advance of the appearance of the AMD 2 DPC (and hoping that changes in the draft don't invalidate too much of my preparation!).Well, you might get some intellectual satisfaction from preparing your case for whatever you are going to propose to BSI; sometimes the process helps to focus the mind.
You will be one of the first to hear! Do you have any suggestions as to 'which level' (or even which person/title) I should address my request to?If you do "seek reassurance" from BSI, I'd be interested to hear their response.
Probably - but, there again, (s)he may be an industrial historianI wonder if the person bidding on this has not paid attention:

Thanks, but I don't really do stamps these days - do I take it that [email protected] would work equally well?Customer Services, 389 Chiswick High Road, London, W4 4AL, United KingdomDo you have any suggestions as to 'which level' (or even which person/title) I should address my request to?
I think there may have been a misunderstanding here. I was asking who I should approach to ask ('seek reassurance') about the acceptability of comments about a Standard made other than as part of a public consulatation process. The IEC form you indicate appears to be one for actually making the comments. Would: http://www.bsigroup.com/en-GB/forms/general-enquiry/ perhaps be more appropriate for my 'general enquiry'? ... or maybe just an e-mail to the customer services address?I suggest you use the Form Comments.doc from the IEC at http://www.iec.ch/standardsdev/resources/forms_templates/ with a covering letter.
Maybe - we'll see IME, dealing with organisations such as this can sometimes be anything but 'fun'!Have fun!
Oh, I see, I obviously misunderstood. Thanks. I presume that e-mail is as acceptable as snail-mail?John, If you ask them a vague question about the admiisibility of comments, you'll get a vague answer. Hence I was suggesting that you prepare your comments using the IEC form, and submit them with your question. You won't be wasting your time, since you can use the same comments when repsonding to the consultation.
