We don’t have Facebook but our daughter sent us some screenshots of the 'friends of Upminster windmill’ Facebook page. Some of the old pictures are amazing. Oh, and apparently some bloke in the eighties called Fergal Sharkey was a hired singer in a pop video shot at the windmill by a band called 'The Assembly'! The windmill is in Upminster but the office blocks and travellers are from Bas Vegas where the group came from. Also in 'The Assembly' is a young Vince Clark who went on to become one half of Erasure.
Just seeing the size of the crane on-site, it makes you wonder how they built this three hundred years ago! We can see the windmill from our house and it will be great to see the sails turning. I’ve never seen them turn since we moved here in 1990.
