Did anyone see it? I thought I was looking at something happening in downtown Harlem. Why is it that a certain demographic section of our community thinks that it is ok to agree to meet, en-masse, to just help themselves to stock from shops? Why? Who on here is going to defend them with pathetic excuses of poverty? They all connected on their mobile phones, planned the attack and travelled from afar - on a weekday - I take it they are not working? It’s not the first time it’s happened either. We're just too f'cking soft in this country thanks to the lefty social worker types advocating for these ****s.

Earlier in the afternoon, officers arrested two people in Essex for conspiracy to commit robbery following online social media posts.
Essex at fault again.

It's nothing more than a tiktok flash mob of kids in the summer holidays. Most of them rubbernecking.

Looks like a few more police would have been helpful, they are recruiting according to the signs on their vans, doubtless the government will make that a priority. I remember the anarchy violence and criminality of rioting after football matches in the 70’s with near immunity for the fans. This pales into insignificance against that.

Blup

Tories got rid of 20,000 experienced police officers in 2016. And gave tax cuts as a reward, mostly to the better off. You reap what you sew.

I see what you mean, they are all young, some of them obvioulsy local workers, many of them have phones:

Luckily the Police seem to have it all under control.
And the BBC are down playing it.
Was it your exaggeration, and an opportunity to spout your narrative?

Ah, right. Less police officers make people behave like thieving stealing ****s then does it? How does that work?

No blame at all to be attached to the ****s that travelled up to commit the crime? Of course not, they’re just the hard up, oppressed minority, aren’t they? Why is it that responses such as yours doesn't surprise me any more?

You missing the point. Should not have got rid of 20,000 officers. But the Tories think a "smaller state" and more private companies are the way forward.

Deterrence. If you know you're not going to get caught more people will commit offenses.

Plus fewer police officers means less resources to investigate crimes, track down criminals and arrest them. I thought you were in favour of that?

Is this the type of result that you get from what you sew? ;);)

Was it as bad as the rioting after a herd o' nerd's swarmed into NYC at the promise of some nerd gizmo promised by a nerd-troll in an online nerd-fest? That was funny.

Mottie posted the item to address his own agenda, and he'll dismiss anyone who dares to confront his agenda.

I see mottie supports Theresa May in claiming that Police do nothing so cutting their numbers makes no difference.

It's a common occurrence for the usual suspects

I can't find any reports of shops being ransacked. Only of people planning to gather, and the police being ready.

Mr Khan says he is concerned and but labelled the videos urging people to turn up as “nonsense”. He released a statement saying there will be a heavy police presence, telling trouble makers to stay away.

He said: “I am worried about this nonsense we have seen on TikTok encouraging people to go to Oxford Street. The police understand why some people may be tempted to go to that part of London because of the TikTok. I’d encourage anybody who’s seen it not to go to Oxford Street.

As for the certain demographic, the videos clearly show white people joining in too.

Why should the lack of police be the cause of crime? In a perfect world we wouldn’t need any. It’s the criminals that need punishing.

How many police does it take to deter your family and friends from committing crime?
