Panorama - The Smart Meter mess

Which I've never claimed.

Cadent need to be more sympathetic and have procedures in place for smart meters. Assist the customer rather than refuse to "work" on them. Customer service was never their strong point.
yes you have you kept on saying because cadent refused to work on them their engineers need further training or better engineers to fix them .
Without you having even the most basic of idea why they refused to attend
They did have a procedure in place not their fault that the shyte things would constantly break down .
Assist the customer what go out and tell them yep its broke again , nothing we can do as
Yep go out to hundreds of smart meters a day and let escape response times be missed and put peoples lives in danger
You clearly havent got a clue

Do Cadent fit smart meters?
How do I get a smart meter or get my smart meter fixed? We don't supply, fit or fix meters. We look after the pipes that get gas to your home. If you want a new meter, want your existing meter moved, or your meter isn't working properly, please call your gas supplier.

Not really the same as your comments. I believe the local network companies do the meters, gas and electric. Of interest to me as I wanted them fitted. However when I looked at their web page it said contact you supplier.

What bit of my comments that they no longer work on smart meters NOW are you struggling with ?
around 2015/16 they went to the regulator ofgem and said they no longer wanted to work on them for faults due to the horrendous call out rates on them and the prohibitive cost and strain on the work force which is essentially an emergency service .
They continued to fit dumb credit and prepayment meters on what is known as policy exchanges ,in theory meters are changed every 20 years for certain suppliers .
They also exchanged leaking meters for certain suppliers without question and other suppliers if not on the approved list would be contacted and asked if they wanted to pay for exchange whilst fitter on site or send their own guy in most cases they said carrying on .
They also fitted meters on new builds for certain suppliers .
Also changing batteries in older prepayment meters when they went to fault
A few years after this they then came out of the meter exchange /fitting altogether and told suppliers it was down to them and concentrated on what they actually are an emergency service provider .
Which is what your cut and paste now states is how they NOW work

I think meters are probably fitted by a 'domestics' company.

trying to introduce irrelevance.
Standard.

Like repeatedly saying 'it's easier with a SM' or 'they don't need a court order' or some such irrelevant waffle.

The fact still remains...

You are no more likely to have your meter switched to pre-pay or have your supply cut off with either meter.

Nonsense.
You believe what you like...

The facts tell sensible people otherwise!

So maybe you could tell us who was more believable to you..

'Gaz' or 'Leccy'?

But remember, you can't ask your unicorn for an answer ;)

What facts?

I've had gas and leccy smart meters now for a while. The gas meter has recently decided not to send. Apart from that, there has been no difference in anything from either meter from when we had the other meters. They are just meters.

The only fact I'm aware of is....

Let’s hope it doesn’t cut you off…..

A Domestics installer might help him out though ?

Fingers crossed

Or would have to employ a lot more people to cope. I assume they just did recalibration changes previously. 2 for me same house.

I don't see that they really do much in terms of cost savings.
