Panorama - The Smart Meter mess

No, there is a programme ongoing to upgrade SMETS 1 meters, You should know that.
the smet 1 programme has been on going since at least 2016 when BG identified the faults with the first 1 million meters they fitted .
Oh hang on why would they change them if they were still acting as a meter

Tinfoil hatter nonsense.

Cadent haven't a clue, customer service isn't their strong point.
Customer service isnt their strong point really tell me the percentage of uncontrolled gas escapes they hit within 1 hour of customer phoning up.
Lets see what you think is bad service !

There you go again. Simply weird, your strange attitude.
There I go again ?

I dismissed your negative comment. One you made because you’ve no idea what you’re talking about and I pointed it out.

Please refrain from such remarks.

I missed that comment!

It’s almost like he’s got something against the gas industry. Which I find very strange as he is or at least was a gas engineer.

The mind boggles

due to the mess the government has allowed to happen - making them an option, with incentives to have one, leaving it to the energy companies
This is a rather long video on this subject. It explains why Labour were correct to push it and the consequences of using energy supply companies.

The first 20min easily covers the problems.

Tories of course just allowed it all to carry on.

Correct! I was an early adopter, and had what later was called the SMETS 1 installed, which resulted in all the issues when switching suppliers - the switch, ought to have been foreseen, but wasn't. It was upgraded, a few years ago, to SMETS 2, I cannot recall whether it was 'over the air', or they came to the door to do it, or whether it happened before, or during my previous supplier switch, but what I do remember is that - my last supplier switch, to Octopus, but what I do remember was how slick the switch was, and they were getting meter readings, over the air, almost instantly.

During my time with SM's, I have had three sets of meters. These were the original SMETS1, where when I changed supplier, they had to also change then meters, so they could communicate. In part at least, the meter swaps, were a result of my complaints to my new suppliers, that the meters were failing to provide them with readings.
