Yeah @Harry Bloomfield I think I need to revisit the SSE quote and challenge a couple of things
Thanks @JohnW2 and @HERTS P&D , have been researching generators in more detail today as it happens. Lots of options, dump it in a corner and exhaust through hole in the back wall, easy as that?
Not necessarily quite that - small portable gennys don't usually have an 'exhaust pipe' (like a car has) from which one could direct the exhaust gases through a hole in the wall. More likely that (like with mine), you'd have to pull it out and run it in front of (or behind) the garage (in free air) when you need to use it - but most come with wheels, so that 'moving' is no great burden....have been researching generators in more detail today as it happens. I think that it would probably be almost impossible to spend as much on a small generator (appropriate to your requirements) as you would pay with even the most optimistic estimated cost of the alternatives. Thanks all for the advice on generators, it's almost certainly going to work out cheaper unless something miraculous happens.
As I implied, it's not even a (safe) option, because, with any small generator I've seen, the garage would rapidly fill with exhaust gases, even with the door open.If it were in your garage you would be annoyed with the noise too.
Amongst others, a table saw, which although there are some cordless options alternatives, I'd rather not. Plus dust collection is simpler too. It had crossed my mind thoughWhat are you planning on doing?
Cordless tools are getting cheaper by the month and a rechargeable led flood work light is about £25 on Amazon

what exactly are you hoping to do with the table saw ??Amongst others, a table saw, which although there are some cordless options alternatives, I'd rather not. Plus dust collection is simpler too. It had crossed my mind though
Create a stroboscopic effect with a cordless lamp and cut my arms offwhat exactly are you hoping to do with the table saw ??
That seems to be a rather odd questionwhat exactly are you hoping to do with the table saw ??
